Karis began ballet classes aged just two. By the age of six she was chosen to take part in the Royal Opera House’s Chance to Dance program and began attending weekly ballet lessons under the direction of Royal Ballet dancers and teachers where she excelled in creative workshops and performance.

By age seven, Karis was a Royal Ballet School Junior Associate and quickly progressed into the Royal Ballet School itself. During her training, Karis performed extensively with the Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National Ballet. Her first performance on a major stage was with The Royal Ballet in The Tales Of Beatrix Potter, choreographed by Sir Fredrick Ashton, in which she danced the role of a baby mouse aged just 9! Karis has also danced repertoire from various other Royal Ballet productions including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and La Bayadere. In 2012, Karis joined the National Theatre company alongside other Royal Ballet dancers to dance and act in Nicholas Hytner's production of Shakespeare's story Timon and Athens, with stage and acting legend Simon Russell Beale in the title role.

After dealing with a troublesome injury for many years, Karis decided to take a step back from her main stage career to focus on rehabilitation. It was during her rehabilitation the she rediscovered how positive self-expression was crucial to her recovery. She also overhauled her existing technical knowledge and retrained her body, crediting martial arts and weight lifting among the methods which helped her overcome injury. She channeled this passion and newfound knowledge into the teaching of others. More than just technique, Karis believes in helping clients discover how healing classical ballet can be, even for complete beginners.

In 2011, Karis received her teacher training qualification from the Royal Ballet School and Royal Opera House and began teaching in London.

After forming En Avant Ballet n 2015 the international teaching offers began flooding in and she started teaching ballet around the world. Regarded as one of the 'go to' ballet teachers in London and worldwide, Karis's clients range from complete beginners to world renowned professional dancers, actors, singers and European Royal Family members. Allowing all who train with her to discover their strengths, consistently improve and thrive in a supportive and educational environment is her ethos, whatever goals you may have. Karis' holistic approach to teaching coupled with a wicked sense of humour, a deep passion for the art form and knowledge of its history mean her classes are an authentic fusion of hard work, inspiration and fun!

In 2018, Karis was invited to be a Master In Residence of the Shangri-La Villingili resort in the Maldives and in August 2019 was Artista En Casa of Uxua Casa Hotel and Spa in Bahia, Brazil.

“Having trained in ballet for the majority of my life, I am truly passionate about its history and technique but also of how healing it can be. In my opinion, there’s nothing better than the ability to move your body to beautiful music and to just dance! The very fact that there are people in the world who share this passion and wish to discover how ballet can benefit them at any stage of life is so inspiring to me. I enjoy seeing my clients grow through ballets’ ever rewarding challenges. It’s life changing, not just for them but for me too.”
